Honey Trail
The ,,Honey Trail" in Štramberk was inspired by a large-format colour wood engraving called “Štramberk Beehives” made in 1908 by Bohumír Jaroněk (1866 – 1923), a painter and founder of the Open-Air Museum in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm.
Its four stops, all located in the vicinity of replicas of ,,tree trunk" beehives, will give you brief and popular account of the history of bee keeping not only in the whole Moravian region but also in Štramberk itself. And since honey is one of the most important components of honey pastry – gingerbread, you will be briefly introduced also to the traditional forms of its production.
Beehives of the Štramberk ,,Honey Trail", the appearance of which was inspired by the old “tree-trunk beehives” displayed in the Museum of Honey in Chlebovice and the Open-Air Museum in Rožnov, have purely an aesthetic and educational function.
